Knowledge Base

Purpose

The purpose of this wiki is to build a knowledge base of methods and materials related to technical performance assessment (TPA) and pathologist performance assessment (PPA). We invite you to help us grow this wiki in two directions: build out and drill down.

Build Out

In the build-out, we will identify and prioritize assessment methods and materials. The build-out descriptions of the methods and materials are granular and brief: individual concepts instead of details, singular talking points instead of comprehensive review. Keep the language simple enough for your mom. The presentations at our Pathology Visions 2015 session were build-out descriptions of methods and materials.

Drill Down

In the drill-down, we will identify topic experts that will present details of methods and materials. The presentations at our Pathology Informatics Summit 2015 session were drill-down descriptions of methods and materials. The presentations gave methods, outlined data collection, and even showed results. The presentations were shared with “reviewers” weeks before the session, so that the reviewers could provide journal-like reviews in the same session. The reviewers asked questions and provided suggestions. This created excellent feedback for the presenters and initiated an enriching and engaging discussion for everyone present.

Status

The WSI WG wiki is brand new. Consider this main page as the only page rising to the status of “Draft”. Before last week, most of us had no experience creating and editing wiki pages. Since then we have experimented in our limited free time and believe that it is worth a shot. We believe that building this knowledge base is aligned with our goals for the WSI WG, allows all interested parties to participate as authors or consume as readers, and is less complicated than managing the creation and revision of one or more documents by a large group.

Process

We have decided that one of our main roles will be to keep the wiki organized. The content is to come from *YOU*. We will control the main page and will build ways to navigate to pages, essentially through lists. We will invite topic experts to author, moderate, and review pages. Some pages will have multiple authors to represent different constituencies. We have not decided whether some or all of the pages will be moderated. For now, we invite you to volunteer to participate at all levels: create and edit public pages, ask us for access to pages that are uneditable by the public, ask us to include links to your pages, submit suggested changes or make comments. We are wiki newbies; we welcome suggestions and help.

Thank You

Sincerely, The WSI WG Organizers
