Abstract

Eat Healthy, Be Active Community Workshop: is a culturally synthesized community workshop that provides underserved and minority communities the opportunity to participate in an educational workshop in their respective communities. This version of the workshop provides knowledge about cancer prevention, early screening, and updates about the latest cancer research.

Specific modules focus on: colorectal, breast, prostate and building a healthy relationship with your health care team. We encourage members to share their knowledge with their families as they learn the importance of family history.

We have implemented this workshop in more than 30 faith-based organizations, senior centers, community centers and schools since 2013. We have included the following resources: Poster presentation that was presented at the American Public Health Association, flier to invite members to participate, evaluation, and a link to the original booklet which is a six week comprehensive guide for the workshop.
