The increasing use of digital pathology creates a wealth of opportunities for computational image analysis techniques that were otherwise infeasible under traditional microscope review. Different from other medical imaging, digital pathology files often contain stacked layers across multiple resolutions which leads to large amounts of information captured for a single image.
